October 17th & 18th.

After hearing your enthusiasm for this upcoming event, I told Cathy we would want to reserve the whole Gold Mountain Manor for the club. She said I don't have to put the 50% deposit down if those that want to stay at the manor go ahead and book the room and put their deposit down within the next few weeks. So....if you are interested in doing this than go to the website: http://goldmountainmanor.com and select the room you like or call Cathy at 1-800-509-2604. She manages some cabins as well (on that website) and if you mention you are with the SDMC she will give you a discount on the cabin.

For those of you who were not at last nights mtg.. here is what this is all about... We would leave here on Fri am, do a run to Big Bear and stay in this Manor which is absolutely "decadent" (it's on the historical registry), have a gourmet breakfast on Sat. a.m., then go on a tour thru Big Bear Mtns on a Pinzguer's (google it if you don't know what that is)...and have another gourmet meal which will be prepared on site somewhere on a mtn. There will be tables and chairs set up and the menu comprises tri-tip, grilled vegetables, garlic mashed potatoes/chives, green salad, soup and cinnamon cobbler for dessert ( or a slight variation to this menu) The caterer is very accomplished and had done this for some Hollywood folks. The cost for the meal is $25/person and about $10/person to help with the gas for the Pinzguers. From there, those staying at the Manor will get wine and hors d'oeuvres, those in the cabins are on your own. Oktoberfest is going on and
is about a 1 min drive in a Miata or 2 min in an OTM away from the Manor. Sunday am is another gourmet breakfast and then we will head back to reality "home"....!

I strongly encourage you to make your reservations now if you wish to stay in the Manor. When deciding on which room , please keep in mind if it can sleep 3 or in the case of the Presidential suite, 4 persons. That way we can accommodate as many club members as possible. (which I think is 18 people.) Cathy can help you with which rooms have sleeper sofa or can handle a rollaway. I am told Bessie still sleeps in her bed from time to time, so if you book that room...be prepared...do you believe in ghosts ?? You'll hear the stories and may be able to tell your own !

In October we'll be ready for another long weekend adventure...and I'm already excited about this one. Please call me if you have further questions or any suggestions.
