14th Annual Poker Run

April 4 & 5, 2008

Goose Bumps Ahead

On behalf of the San Joaquin Valley Miata Club we welcome you to our 14th Annual Poker Run.  We promise you a weekend full of Goose Bumps, twisty roads and good friends.  Our Route Master Bob has picked out some very exciting roads for us complete with great twisties as we travel through the beautiful Sierra Mountains in the Madera area.

Our weekend begins on Friday, April 4th, with a hospitality welcome and early registration in the Van Ness Room of the Ramada Inn at Shaw and Hwy. 41.  This year we have a much larger room which will be open from 5:00-10:00 with plenty of good food and conversation.  Every car registered on Friday evening will qualify for the drawing for a souvenir Poker Run hat.  We will be serving sandwiches and other food to snack on.   There will be reps from Lithia Mazda and Meguiar’s Car Products, also laptop presentations of autocross and last month’s Coastal Cruise.

April 5, Saturday morning registration will begin at 8:00 in the parking lot of the Ramada Inn.   We will park our cars in the roped off area along Shaw Avenue.  Driver’s meeting will be at 8:45 and then off we go.

After a morning of twisty roads and beautiful foothills, we will end up in Oakhurst for a delicious lunch at El Cid’s Mexican Restaurant.   You will be ordering from the main menu.  After lunch more Goose Bumps and twisty roads with our last stop at the Ramada Inn.

At 6:00 we will meet at AJ’s Armenian Cuisine Restaurant, a map will be provided in your registration packet.  Dinner will be served at 6:30. Our Miata Chef has an outstanding menu planned for your eating enjoyment, Hors d’oeuvres, salad, pilaf and your choice of beef, chicken or lamb kabobs.  After dinner we will have our Charity Raffle.  Sharon has done an outstanding job of gathering items for the raffle.  Our own Sassy Cin will be selling raffle tickets.  Don and Ron will once again bring their own unique style to the evening as they MC the raffle.

This year we have chosen The Discovery Center Museum of Science and Natural History as our charity.  The Discovery Center has served families, children and educators since 1956 with exhibits featuring a Cactus Garden, Walden Pond ecosystem, Outdoor Indian Studies and the Garden of the Sun.  All proceeds from the raffle will be donated to The Discovery Center.

Thank you for supporting the San Joaquin Valley Miata Club Poker Run.
